What we bend

Mandrel · rotary draw
Capability

Mandrel bending

A mandrel inside the tube holds the wall while it bends, so the radius comes out round instead of wrinkled and flat. This is what you want anywhere the bend will be seen, or has to flow.

Capability

Handrail & balustrade

Handrail ends with a 300 mm tail, pool grab rails, balustrade returns. Marine-grade stainless where it lives near salt water — which on the Gold Coast is most of the time.

Capability

Exhaust & turbo piping

Intercooler piping, turbo plumbing, mandrel exhaust bends. Tight radii that keep their bore, because a flat spot in a bend is a restriction you paid for.

Roll bars & ute racks

Ute bars, sports bars, roll hoops. Matched pairs bent to the same radius on the same die, so a set actually looks like a set.

Bead rolling

A rolled bead on the tube end so a hose clamp has something to grip and cannot walk off under boost or vibration.

One-offs & repairs

Bring in the broken part, or the old one out of the boat. If it can be matched we will match it, and if it cannot we will say so before you spend anything.

From sketch to part

Four steps, and you can walk in at any of them.

No portal, no account, no quote engine. A drawing or the old part, a look at it, a price, and a date.

  1. 01

Bring it in or send it through

A drawing, a sketch on the back of an envelope, a photo on your phone, or the old part in a box. Walk-ins are always welcome.

  2. 02

We check it can be bent

Wall thickness against radius, material against angle. If it will wrinkle or split we tell you before the job starts, not after.

  3. 03

    Bent, measured, signed off

Bent on the mandrel, checked against the drawing, and initialled. Every bend leaves here measured.

  4. 04

    Picked up or shipped

Off the rack in Nerang, or freighted anywhere in Australia.

Materials & capacity

Honest limits, published
  • ALU Aluminium Bending capacity 32–127 mm. The bulk of what goes through the shop.
  • 316 Stainless steel Up to 127 mm × 2 mm wall, almost any angle. 316 for anything marine.
  • MS Mild steel Structural work, ute bars, exhaust. Cheapest per bend.
Stock on hand

Stock is always on the shelf. Ring or send a message to check what's in for your job — or bring in your own material and we'll bend that instead.

The honest limit

Above 127 mm we cannot help, and we will say so on the phone rather than after you have driven out. Thin wall against a tight radius is the other one to watch — bring the numbers and we will tell you whether it will wrinkle before anything is clamped up.

Why the tolerance is tight

25yr

Adrian Dokter spent 25 years building boats at Riviera — Australia's largest luxury boat builder, Coomera. Marine work does not forgive a flat spot or a wrinkle, and that is the standard now standing behind the bender.

Prices, published

Ex GST · no quote wall

The full price list is on the site, not behind a form. Standard mandrel bends and handrail ends are priced per bend by diameter, wall and radius — if your job is on the list, you already know what it costs.

A 25 mm × 3 mm 90° bend on a 70 mm centreline radius is $16 ex GST. Anything off the list, ring and ask.

Repeat quantities come down per bend — the setup is the expensive part, not the bend. Bring the quantity with the numbers and the price comes back for the batch, not for one.

Who you're talking to

Under new ownership
Adrian Dokter at the bender in the Nerang workshop.
Adrian Dokter

Adrian Dokter stepped in at Highway Tube Bending after 25 years building boats at Riviera.

Same workshop, same address, same machines — the bender and the wall of dies behind it are exactly where they were. What is new is who is standing at it. 25 years of marine fit-out means a habit of measuring twice and of telling a customer the truth about a job before taking it on.

Ring, email a drawing, or drive in with the part on the passenger seat. Walk-ins are always welcome — you will be talking to the person who does the bending.
